Dental Visit Gone Wild: Lawsuit Claims 32 Procedures in One Sitting!

A Minneapolis Woman Files Malpractice Lawsuit Against Dentist

A Minneapolis woman has filed a civil lawsuit in Hennepin County District Court against her Eden Prairie dentist, Dr. Kevin Molldrem, claiming malpractice. Kathleen Wilson has accused Molldrem of performing extensive dental work, including eight crowns, four root canals, and 20 fillings, in one visit, causing significant injuries and emotional distress. Wilson’s attorney has claimed negligence in dental care, excessive use of anesthesia, and falsified medical records. The lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $50,000.

Negligence Allegations

During Wilson’s treatments from July 7 to July 21, 2020, Molldrem has been accused of multiple instances of negligence. Wilson’s attorney claims that Molldrem failed to establish an appropriate care plan, performed an excessive amount of dental work in a single session, administered too much anesthesia, inadequately evaluated Wilson’s bite, and did not effectively manage her gingival inflammation and bleeding. Furthermore, the lawsuit alleges that Molldrem falsified records regarding the anesthesia dosage.

Clinical Periodontist’s Expert Opinion

Wilson’s attorney has hired Dr. Avrum Goldstein, a clinical periodontist, and implant surgeon, as an expert witness on behalf of Wilson. In his report, Dr. Goldstein concluded that Molldrem’s attempt to restore all of Wilson’s teeth in one visit was a severe breach of the standard of care. Dr. Goldstein claims that it is not humanly possible to properly perform the extensive dental work as claimed by Molldrem in the given time. He has also criticized Molldrem for failing to address the underlying causes of Wilson’s dental issues, which could potentially escalate to further complications. Dr. Goldstein’s report highlights the need for extensive and expensive restorative dentistry, leading to profound economic and emotional consequences.

Expert Witness in Dentistry

Dr. Goldstein, who describes himself as an expert witness in dentistry, periodontics, and dental implants with over 40 years of experience, provides insight into the complexity of dental cases. His long-standing experience adds weight to the malpractice lawsuit, and his report offers a detailed view of Wilson’s dental work in question.

Voicemail Left for Molldrem

A voicemail message was left for Molldrem seeking his input on the lawsuit. As of 6 p.m. Friday, a response had not been received.
